Sony budget earphone discussion thread (MH750, MH755, MH1C, EX300, etc)

Recabling is so easy though, there's really no reason not to do it. I made sure to get a nice thin cable from AE as I didn't want anything too heavy.

I'd never soldered before, but my brother had a soldering iron and I borrowed that.

My recable cost me £1.19 in total, and the earphones are so much nicer to use because of it.
The wiring doesn't seem to be quite that simple, after all it is a very fine job, and some users here in the forum have already reported accidental destruction. The reason I wouldn't rewire the headphones is because I'm too scared of destroying the internal structure. When opening and closing, there may be a gap or a larger opening for the bass reflex. Perhaps the work accidentally shrinks the opening. The internal pressure is crucial for the good sound of these headphones.

Well, I was a complete newbie and I recabled 2 of them without incident, it was fun too!

In regards to opening them, you can literally open them with your fingers alone, if not wear rubber gloves and it's even easier. No need to stick sharp tools in to the shell to open them, that always results in scuffs/indentations in the casing.

I pulled out my 755’s tonight. I’d forgotten how hard the bass hits. It was kind of awesome after spending a long time listening to the much more accurate, but more tame, z1r.

I don’t think I could listen to these all the time because they’d get tiring after a while but for $5+recabling cost? Sure, why not throw them in every few weeks? They are really fun.
It's that amazing sub bass extension that makes them so fun. I haven't heard anything like that ever.

Anyone else know if IEMs that have better sub bass extension? The mh750 have been my go to gift for people since they are so cheap and knock people's socks off when they first hear them

These are fake, right?

Driver looks fake, no "dots".
Label has purple ribbon.
Bore seems wide compared to my 755? Is the 750 wider or should they be the same?
The driver literally drops out of the casing, on my MH755 they are glued to the front side of the case.
Eartips are very thin.
Crazy driver flex when inserting.
They sound... bad.

Cheers

The seller refunded me and has left me no return instructions. So I guess he doesn't want them back.

I did tell him I would be happy to return if he paid for postage... I am not being out of pocket all because he is selling fakes!
