How can you tell the difference between a black mh755 and mh750? Looking at pictures it seems the shells are the same
I don’t recommend going thicker though, as if you don’t know what you’re doing you will drastically change the sound tuning. You want a wire that fits tight with the stock wire strain relief, so it doesn’t turn the strain relief into an additional bass vent.
Anyways, I still feel the easiest and safest way is to just recable the stock cable. It preserves the stock sound tuning, is easier/cheaper to do than removable jacks, and it is much more serviceable down the road (is to replace the cable when it goes bad). It’s also the lightest option, as the mmcx jacks combined with the mmcx plugs on the cable add a noticeable amount of weight which can actually work the earphones loose during listening sessions.
That’s why I keep recommending recabling instead of dealing with all of the mmcx headaches. Mmcx sounds like a cool idea, and it is useful on some IEMs because you can change out a cable when a cable goes bad. But the MH755 is so ridiculously easy to open up and solder on a new cable yourself, you could change out a cable in 10 minutes whenever it goes bad down the road.
Nice job, congratsI patched my MH755 today. I wanted to thank you guys, I followed the advices found in this thread.
I preferred recabling instead of dealing with the female MMCX.
Finally, no sound issue at all, I was a bit worried before the first test, I'm far from a soldering specialist.
The most difficult part was the soldering itself because of the size of the speakers...I used a magnifying glass.
I had to cut a bit the white tips to put the cables in. I also should have painted one of the tip to mark the right side but I just put a dot inside with a marker.
Following the advice I found here, I bought the MH755 on ebay there :

and the cable on Aliexpress :

Thanks again!

Look legit, just like mine. Smooth, good balance, good dynamics, good warmth, good air, voices right there, good imaging, bass with good control and not too punchy, somewhat power hungry, though. Very musical! These just arrived:
Can't start modding until the MMCX plugs get here, so for now I'm just enjoying them as is. Didn't even verify if they're original or not, but they sure sound good. The eBay seller I got these from has got 100% positive feedback, so I'm not really worried.
I'm pretty sure they're the real deal. Opened them up and compared to what Slater said few posts back. All boxes checked!Look legit, just like mine. Step 1: instant recabling...I used a 80 cm male-female extension for $2.99 from aliexpress [Rock brand as in "Rock Zircon"].
Step 2: Pulling out the ole Sony XBA-C10, a 2013 model.
The XBA-C10 made the "best of" lists of 2014. Superficially, it sounds almost identical to the MH755 but is easier to drive, although not by much. Some claimed the XBA-C10 were the best Sony earphones at the time...which is a bit far fetched in my opinion.
And what I wasn't aware of: the XBA-C10 sport a single BA...but they sound like a DD.Look legit, just like mine. Smooth, good balance, good dynamics, good warmth, good air, voices right there, good imaging, bass with good control and not too punchy, somewhat power hungry, though. Very musical!
