I´m looking for an MP3 player with very good sound quality. The slight bass emphasis of Sony players doesn't bother me, because I often listen to music while cycling. I use noise isolating IEM's, which isolate well the higher frequencies, but the lower frequency noise of wind and traffic can still be somewhat heard and interferes slightly with the bass sounds. That's why I often need a little emphasis on the bass. But then again, I don't want my bass sounds muddy and distorted.
I browsed back a few pages and saw some discussion about S610 vs A810, but it was left undecided if there was difference in sound quality or not. I would like to know, if someone has come to any conclusion (owns both players) or knows a link to a comparison.
Also, if people can give me insight to how these Sony players are comparable in sound quality to the Sandisk Fuze (which is supposed to have very good sound quality), I'd be happy to hear about it.
At he moment I use the Sony NW-S706 which has just about perfect amount of bass emphasis with +1 clear bass setting (with Shure SE210's), while cycling or with traffic backround noise.
I'm lookin to replace this 4gb player (it's gone too small with many of the files packed to 320kbs...) with a larger 8GB S618 or A818 or the Fuze (which is available in 8GB + MicroSD). If I chose the Fuze, I suppose I would at least have to try to compensate for the weaker (unboosted) bass of the Fuze with the equalizers for my use.
Any input is appreciated.
