Hey, its even worse being in Canada. All the good deals are just next door and we still cant get them because of ridiculous UPS brokerage fee and other hindrances. And even when you order something from one of those few Canadian ebayers, you often have to pay _more_ than people in the US who get it shipped across the border. Very frustrating at times.
But then again, its a rather small price to pay for living in a significant less screwed up country. (Sorry, just my opinion, off topic and slightly inappropriate, not an invitation for a flame war or discussion of politics)

I'm actually happy it's on backorder. I just ordered mine for $35 shipped (also comes with cardboard flat panel speakers from the same brand) so I'd be mad if it was avaliable for $12 shipped the day after.

Backorder or not, I ordered one anyway. Hopefully I'll get it by Christamas.
It's just too good a deal, and if it works out, you WILL see me travelling with my iPod-Sonic Impact-AKG K1000

Hmm weird. I wonder if they are still going to send them out for 6 bucks for people who ordered them using their online system. Dont they enter a binding contract by accepting payment for it? Well, probably not, I guess.
Btw. the price in the web page I linked in my original post dropped to 3.99!

X10 seems to be a king of spam. Despite 2 separate emails/links asking to be removed from their mailing list (thank goodness it was to a dummy Yahoo account anyways), they still don't reply/remove.

But they have the most AMAZING sales - EVERY 6 FRIGGIN' HOURS!!! And they are sure to tell me about EVERY one.

I really don't like their methods, and I wouldn't be surprised if they have a clause of "not responsible for typographical errors" in their web site somewhere.

Good luck with this....I DO hope it works, but I'm very skeptical.

So that we can get your order to you faster, X10.com sometimes substitutes a different part
for the one that you ordered. When we make this change, we always send you an item
that is the same as or better than the one you ordered. Note: The parts shown here
are all the components for the items you ordered, so the list may not appear exactly as
it did when you made your purchase.

Thankyou for shopping at X10.com

I sure hope X10.com sent the Sonic Impact amps indicated in this notification email since no substitute would be acceptable. I confirmed my card was charged only the amount indicated on my receipt, i.e. $5.99 ea + shipping, so I at least know they honored their price. Now to keep my fingers crossed I receive what I ordered...

I used their "Ask a Salesperson" online chat to ask about the substitution clause as well as to ask about honoring my order at the lower price of $3.99 instead of the $5.99 I placed my order at. Here's what they said:

( Ty ) The email refers to X10 products that we manufacture, such as our home automation and security products. The 3rd party elctronics items are not substituted.
( Ty ) We do offer price protection. You will need to contact our customer service dept at 800.442.5138 to inquire about getting refunded for the price drop.

Hope this gives you guys some hope. This appears to be the "real deal", but I'll know for sure when I open the box and see my T-amps inside.

-coma
