Gah how much would it cost to get someone to make a enclosure for M3? . . .

You'd have to give someone a lot more to work with than just "an enclosure for an M3." Here's a list of things to think about:

1. Internal vs. External Power Supply

2. Single vs. Multiple Inputs (not to mention input type)

3. LED(s)

4. Power Switch

5. Volume Only or Vol + Bass Boost

6. Single vs. Multiple Headphone outputs

7. Wood vs. Metal

Start out by trying to find a configuration similar to one that you'd like in the "post pics" thread or maybe on amb's site. Rough guess is that a custom enclosure would run you anywhere from $100 on up. Personally I find that casework is often harder than the amp portion of the build.

HTH,

Nate

iagaudio.com does some nice cases and they'll machine holes into the cases wherever you want them so long as you give them specs - course it costs..

Are you looking for just a basic case? Or do you want engravings on it so you know what each jack/pot does?

I want a basic basic basic case .

I just don't have the tools to make a case at the moment.

Nothing more basic than this. Or is that too basic?

Sorry. I'm a bit punchy. Went to a funeral today. The Merlot is starting to work about now.

OK. Sorry about my last post. A little silly.

Yeah, not having the tools will certainly hinder your progress. For my own mint case I used a heat gun, hex keys, a drill, a dremel, a solder gun...sheesh! Not to mention the rest of the hand tool collection...

Is your M3 done, or are you just spec-ing out the whole process? If you have not started it yet, I might suggest a mint. Why? Well, they sound pretty good and will fit in a mint tin. Somewhere on this board is a post about people using a simple paper hole punch to make the holes. That's a pretty cheap alternative.

Otherwise, you might check a new/used computer store and pick up a case for an external drive. Maybe a surplus store would turn up a cool find...

Finally, I'm with Nate: my own casework (allllllmost done now) took far longer than building my own mint. How you want your own layout will obviously differ from anyone else.
