Don't post much over here, but wanted to take a minute to recommend some of the music that I listen to on a regular basis. I'm a musician and have a fairly wide taste musically, but here's just a few artists/albums that I think you should spend some time checking out.
Sondre Lerche - Two Way Monologue
Amazingly enough, he was only 21 years old when he recorded this CD. Beautiful singer/songwriter with a retro feel to his songs. The vocal melodies are fascinating with gorgeous backing harmonies. One of my favourite records.
For fans of The Beach Boys.
The Dismemberment Plan - Emergency & I
Here's something a little different. These guys redifined the rules of writing a pop song. Unfortunately they've since broken up, but the music of this band will live on and on. Amazingly witty lyrics and so much genre jumping you're head will spin. Weird, catchy, diverse..Give it a listen.
For fans of The Pixies.
Black Moth Super Rainbow - Dandelion Gum
Here's something more than a little different. Dripping with psychedelia. With songs like "Jump Into My Mouth and Breathe the Stardust" would you expect anything less? Trippy, hypnotic, synths galore..One of the coolest albums I've heard in a long time.
For fans of Air.
So there you go. Three albums you might not have known about that my collection would not be the same without. Happy listening.
