Solid silver interconnects? Please help?

I had an RSAD Poiema!!! Signature cable for a couple of years, and absolutely adored it.
Solid silver conductors, natural insulation, great craftsmanship and all. Well worth looking into imo!

How much are you looking to spend? Silver is expensive stuff, so be prepared for some sticker shock.

At the bottom end, the Signal Cable Silver Resolution is a fantastic interconnect. Technically yes, it is a silver/copper hybrid rather than pure silver, but its a real giant killer and a steal at a little over $100 with Eichmann bullet plugs.

Some excellent (and significantly more expensive) solid silver choices include:

1. Acoustic Zen Silver Reference II and Absolute
2. DH Labs Revelation
3. Wireworld Gold Eclipse and Platinum Eclipse

There are many others, but those are some that I've had personal experience with and found to be very good. I also wouldn't recommend writing off a cable just because its not "just" silver. Hybrid designs are some of the best out there. Even silver plated copper (when done properly) can sound very good.

I usecd to love the Kimber Silver Streak a lot, for its natural sound and large soundstage, but find it was bettered in my system by the van den Hul the First ultimate.

Solid silver eh? wise choice. I am using audioquest cheetah - not cheap. Discontinued line and you will find them at a reduced price. I tend to stay away from hybrid silver and copper - this is what majority "silver" cable actually are - they seem to exhibit midrange suckout, hence the reputation for extended treble. My solid core silver is anything but bright.

Hmmm, I like the way you move...Susan.

I found a long run of the Vampire Wire SL silver interconnect terminated in RCA in ebay. I bought it and change them to balanced using Vampier Wire cryotreated XLRs. I am still in the burn-in process but so far it is great!

Silver can be bright in some systems. You need to be careful with matching with the sound characteristic of all the pieces ini your system. In my case worked great because my Threshold equipment and B&W speakers are in the laid back side so the silver cables brought some fastness and dynamics to the sound.

I also added a Acoustic Zen Silver Reference MkII XLR between my Threshold DAC 1e and my Rudistor RP010B and I love the sound.

Susan ... PLEASE do not buy solid silver interconnects. Make them yourself, or get them from someone who makes DIY solid silver ICs....

I used to own 5 different pairs of them, and then I made my own. Over a period of about a year, I made another dozen or so pairs, refining and listening; finding out what sounded the best. Now, I can honselty say that no pair of solid silver ICs sound as good as mine, unless you get up into the 4 figure territory.

I had a good friend who used to use the Anaconda power cord, and all Nordost Vallhalla speaker and IC cables. Now he uses all my own design in his system, and his system is MUCH better sounding.

Personally, I would reccomend never buying another manufacturered cable of ANY kind, you can do better with DIY for pennies on the dollar !

Can't agree on Neutrik connectors. Eichmann is much better sounding IMO.
Be careful with inexpensive silver conductors, as it can sound bright. Getting quality soft annealed, OCC cable will result in all the detail and air of silver, but without the overly prominent highs of less quality silver.
Use good 4% solder, like wonder wire.
My favorite silver is NOT actually Teflon coated, but cotton instead. Smoother sounding all the way, but still with ALL of the detail.

Hi everyone, Many thanks for the replies. I've had a look at home grown audio. Also I've noticed that some Acoustic Zen Silver Reference II are only $375 on Audiogon.

Downsize, please may I ask you what components you used in the silver cables you made? I'm not DIY savvy you see.
