can someone tell me how you solder or pretin headphone cable. it has this colored enamel on it and the only way to get it "clean' for solder is to scrap or sand. is there some kind of chemical for preparing it?

Some headphone cables are extremely difficult to work with due to precoating. See the tips and tricks section at www.meier-audio.com for some hints on getting the coating off a cable.
