Hello All,
I was wondering if anybody here has any experience in soldering the special wire that is found in most medium quality headphone (stock) cables. My $70 IEM's plug broke and I would love to be able to fix them.
 
So far all I hear that I can do is leave the fibers there and scrape the enamel off...
 
Any advice, hints, tips, or tricks are greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the advice, but it is insanely fragile. I've already lost about 6 inches to experimenting and would like to know what everyone normally does to get around this before I sacrifice any more cable. I also don't want to end up with a glob of melted plastic fibers when all is said and done.

Heat the wire with soldering iron and use Solder Paste to clean it while heating..
Do this before you Tin the Wire with soldering ..
 
Tinning is adding some solder to wire..
Make sure you use solder paste..
 
Tin Wire
Connect to plug
Solder connections adding some paste before soldering..

Use nail polish remover to strip the enamel.
