This is Meathead version 2.

This amp is based on the Multi-Loop schem first brought to Head-Fi by ppl which was later turned into the META42 circuit board.

This amp consists of an AD843 opamp driving a pair of almost-impossible-to-find EL2002's with an equally rare EL2001 making up the virtual ground. The amp is constructed point to point using 1% metal film resistors, Elna Cerafine power supply caps, Wima polyester bypass caps, and Wima polypropelene (sp?) caps in the bass boost circuit.

The amp is built in a diecast aluminum box painted metallic blue with hand-painted artwork. The style of the painting, the layout of the box, the placement of the jacks, and the selection of the switch is designed to pay homage to the stompbox, tool of professional guitarists everywhere. It also is completely silent thanks to it's sheilding, even when placed right next to a computer monitor.

An interesting feature of the amp is the dual headphone jacks. Jack 1 is straght from the buffers while jack 2 has a 100 ohm Vishay-Dale RN60 resistor in line with the buffers. Combine the Bass Boost with the two output jacks and you have an amp with four (4) identifiable "tonal flavors". Jack 1 sounds clean and articulate, fast and detailed. Jack 2 has a sound that is warmer, softer, almost tube-like.

Amps built with the Burr-Brown BUF634 cannot compare to the sound quality of Elantec buffered amps and because Elantec discontinued both the EL2001 and EL2002 buffers (and I don't have anymore), this amp is the last of it's kind.

Price is $200 and includes a wall wart power supply and shipping within the continental U.S. Interesting trades considered.

ok,

How cool is this! Being a guitar player I'd love to have this. I'm sure it's taken though. YGPM anyway.
