Soekris Audiophile Line Dac's 2541, 1541, 1421, 1321, 1101

I can imagine that the products have evolved even more since the dac1101 and now with fully balanced option as well. How about the dac? Is it still the same dac-performance in the dac1421 today or has that also evolved?
DAC-2541 is improved a lot. Not fully balanced, as ladder is not fully balanced, while a DAC-1541 was. Despite of cost cuts it is better designed, i.e. I don't see these questionable dual SMPS's anymore, it is important to minimise ground loops. It is cleverly designed to suit everyone, has some catchy features like a digital volume control, but also a galvanic isolation on all ports which is the most important. See my post: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/soe...dacs-1541-1421-1321-1101.854918/post-15960049

While I am not interested particularly in this DAC as in this price range Audio GD R-28 present better value (and is NOS), a low cost member of the family is coming soon, it would be ideal to upgrade from 1101. I saw a photo posted by Soekris, but it disappeared misteriously. I suggest to watch this thread for updates.

I had the Soekris dac1101 on loan for a while back I 2016 to write a review of it. I was very impressed by it back then. Now my old trusted Meier Daccord is faulty and I am looking for a new dac to replace it. I wish there was a way to try the dac1421 before a purchase, but they are probably not in any stores?

I suggest waiting for the 2421 upgraded version or you'll regret it :)

Everything evolves. If you want the latest and greatest you have only point-in-time victories.

I think it is worth to wait for DAC-1221:

I grabbed it before it disappeared.

Is there any information or a speculation of a timeline for the 1221 release?

I've recently acquired both a dac1321 and dac1541. Why, because I was looking for a DAC that would have nice synergy with the HPA V281, specifically a Soekris model. I was looking for the 1541 in particular and was not seeing any availability for a while and seeing the 2541 out of stock for so long I got antsy, and then I saw a 1321 listed and jumped on it. As luck would have it, as soon as that transaction was completed a 1541 popped up, so... Sometimes you do wacky things to get what you are after. I am glad I did. The1541 is still relatively new to me but, it sounds terrific so far. The Bifrost 2/V281 match up was OK, but was holding back some detail. It's soft/warmer signature and the vio's warmer signature were not the best compliment. It did not suck, but if I had to describe on a dime - the Bifrost 2 sounded "Congested" in comparison when connected to the V281 vs. the 1541.

TL;DR I am really enjoying the dac1541+V281 match-up.

I wanted the 1541 also and don't want the 2541. Didn't have any luck trying to buy direct at the time, 1541 was gone by the time Soekris got back to my email.

Are you folks leaving your Soekris powered on all the time? Or, turn it off when finished?

I needed a new DAC and wrote Soekris 3 times in January in order to buy one. Had my eyes on the dac1421. Never received any answer.
So, I am not getting the dac1421 in the near future anyway.

This is the same experience I had. In the end, after more than a month I got a friendly email. I get the feeling the American distributor takes this much more seriously than the actual guy who owns the company and makes the DACs. In the meantime I bought something else.

Since this is a pretty small business we don't know what soekris is going through though, what with COVID and all.
I also got replies slowly but did get replies.

It seems more like a spare time hobby than a business. Either you put a note on your website to expect delays or not.

The website was not updated with news that the 1541 is done until months later. There is no way to order online in Europe. You have to email and wait. And wait. And wait.

It is a small business, that is also what he writes on his website. It also states that one should be patient with getting a response. But it is hard to buy it since there is no distributor in Europe and for Denmark I guess the only way is to get it directly from the source... Maybe a loaner tour is the way forward.
