So whos waiting for their backordered HD595s?

I was told they should be available "in the next few weeks". I dont have much faith in anyones estimates and would hate to be waiting months for these. Factory fire also raises quality control concerns.

Oh grumble grumble worry...........

They were shipped on the 16th and will arrive tomorrow, the 21st.

I am also waiting for mine from back order and was told that they are getting a large shipment of close to 1500 of them in next week sometime and then sending them out to retailers. As far as quality goes I am not to worried. I doubt that they would have made so many wiothout knowing for sure the qulaity was high

I ordered some 595's from a guy on ebay back in May, but it turned out that he didn't really have them. After getting jerked around, I settled for some 555's and a refund. I'm not sure what I'm missing with the 555's, many folks say they are quite similar, but I got $80 back. I like the 555's, I wish that they had a deeper bass, like my 280's. The 555's are comfortable and sound good with a lot of different music.

Bottom line, I have been enjoying my 555's for 4 months now - if I waited for the 595's, I'd be really pissed off by now. I'm sure that a lot of people are.

Well the thing is that you can't really get that pissed. The reason they are not here is not due to anyone's fault at sennheiser but rather a fire that destroyed their plant. I am sure they will be well worth the wait.

It's not a good reason to be pissed that the factory burned down. What did piss me off is that the guy said that he had them in stock. After I investigeted the situation, what he meant was that he thought his distributor had them in stock. The distributor did not. The guy fibbed big time, and I called him on it. I would expect that this happened to more than just me.
If you know you're back-ordering, then you already understand. If someone tells you that they have them, they need to deliver.

Anyway, enough of my crap. I hope to compare the 555's and 595's sometime to see what I've been missing, if anything.

I sent an email to Sennheiser USA last week through their online tech support/contact functionality and got a response from Adam Goyette, Associate Product Manager, Sennheiser Electronics. His exact quote

"We are currently back ordered on this model but they should be available in the next few weeks"

I also contacted couple of other online retailers. Glen Taylor, Director of Purchasing, Road Dog Online, gave me a 9/20/2004 shipping date. The place I finally ended pre-ordering from last week, DJMart, gave me a date of four weeks.

So based on Gandhi's corroborating evidence we're probably looking at one more grueling month of waiting.

For anyone interested, I just called DJMart.com and asked, and they said the headphones will ship within a week, to week and a half.

Take it with a grain of salt, of course. But they already have my preorder, so their incentive to lie to me is not that great. And they have been quite nice to me the few times I have called them to make changes to my order.

I have my backorder through Headfi sponsor Todd the Vinyl and Headphone Junkie, and I emailed him last week about the situation. He replied stating that he may receive some (HD-650's) this week. I'll post if I hear any news.

Thomann.de must have made a secret deal with Sennheiser because they have them in stock. Of course, they're pricier, but if you want them badly enough, they do have them. I ordered the 595's last week and they are sitting on my head now.

Of course, for some reason even the HD555's are scarce now locally.
