During the colder period of the year I use them all the time, keeping my ears warm while enjoying some music and small enough to slip into a jacket-pocket. They stand out a bit more than for example Sony V300 but that comes with better comfort as the Eggos are circumaural. And there are plenty of other portable headphones sold here that are Eggo-shaped, like several Philips models. From late autumn to early spring the D-66 are still my favorite portable headphone after over a year of ownership.

i am, although i'm done modding them. the earcups are full of sound dampening foam, which does not touch the backs of the drivers. i also made ports behind the silver buttons for more bass.

i actually get compliments on them.

i've been using my D66 eggos a lot lately because of the colder weather. to me they are still one of the best phones with the perfect combination of looks and sound quality. they were pretty much untouched during the summer though... can't use Shures or Etys in the winter.

How big did you make the ports? They do improve the bass dont they? To me my portable seems to drive them alot easier now. It actualy has bass now using the eggos.

What about the mod to tame the harshness a little? I used a single layer of tissue over the front of the driver and it seem to tame the harshness down just right.

if i remember correctly, i removed the paper and used double layer of metal tape. there are 5 pin holes in each. i also removed the plastic cones behind the silver buttons. the cups are foam dampened, and make a dull thump when i tap on them. i do not have any problems with harshness.

humm, im not sure the paper your talkign about. The white filter on the inside? the cone thing is between the metal button on the outside and the white smooth filter thing on the inside. You removed the cone? did you try any other things before you removed it?
