I am leaning towards them the more I listen to them. They're like a cleaner, more detailed 2132.

I use it in (BUF634T) buffered CMoy at work with Senn 201 (which are bright), and I think it's in par with 627s...or very close...which doesn't matter for average gear like 201.

It's very smooth and detailed, and I guess for Grado it'll be an overkill

In 634 layout it's all but impossible to "hear" OPAG - I tried several and never heared a difference. I guess any unity stable single channel audio opamp will work. I tried 227, 132 and AD843 - they all work OK.

"Bloated in a good way"...that's spot-on

Thanks. I have read an awful lot on the PIMETA and other ground-channel amps. Yet, no one else has mentioned this or put the answer in such a definitive way. That is a very helpful, extremely useful bit of information.

I wonder if the same could be said of the M3's ground channel?

Just a question I'm throwing out there.. but shouldnt the ground channel buffer matter alot? of course the opamp wont matter too much.. no gain in ground =p.

But think about it for just a second.. all that current being slewed out on BUFL and R have to go somewhere.. where? BUFG. so BUFG has to slew twice as fast (ie respond to the current increasses in both buffers) and BUFG has to source / sink current twice as much.. so whats this mean? If I'm correct, the limiting factor isnt the output current on buffers L and R but on buffer ground..

now. Thats could just be me taking too much drinks, but what do you think? for truly "matching" the channels you'd want to stack the ground buffers 2x as high yes?

Interesting ... so, in M3 it apparently makes a difference. Perhaps it is the BUF634 that levels things out with "equal" coloring, whereas the MOSFETS may let more of the pure sound differences come through.

Like I know what I'm talking about ...

That is pretty much my stance on the whole thing.
If you tried different opamps in the ground channel in your amp and you think one sounds better then another.....who am I to come along and burst your bubble?
