35/50/55/75/? I really don't know the difference between them.

Also, should I bother with a miniature, portable amp with them?

75 gets my vote. metal earhook is easily bent for a custom fit and they are $15 shipped. Cheapest and most comfey of the bunch. That in itself outweighs the small sonic differences. Amped they sound like a full sized can, so IMHO yes you should certainly amp em. They are a low impedence can that need ample current reserves to reach their full dynamic (note I didnt say volume)potential. Start with a PA2 or go vibe and go up from there. SR71 is on my wish list.

Mod them for more treble/midrange impact and bass resonance.

Where is the 75 $15 shipped? What is this mod, also?

Finally, should I get a SiK Din for my iPod, or is the line-out not really worth the $20 or so?

I can't find the 75's at Meijer, but I did find them for $14 shipped. Now, what I need to know is:

1) Should I bother with a line-out solution?
2) What amp would be the best? I want to spend less than $100, preferably $70 or less.

Just my opinion but just enjoy the KSC-35 or 75 for what they are. Don't get to wrapped up in needing to amp them because you don't. The same with the line out. The Koss cans are great for any portable application. If your MP3 player has an EQ you might find you like EQing them slightly to suit your hearing tastes.

Here's a link to some recent thoughts I had on the KSC-35 with CMoy and Pimeta Amps compared to PX100.
KSC-35 Vs PX100 with amps

Hope that helps some.

ksc75 are bit more sparkly ( light/bright ) yet musical ( not as much as ksc35 )... nicey

Considering that these are only $14, I really don't mind spending more for an amp, especially since it could be used with better, non-portable cans in the future. I take it that line-out isn't really worth the $20, though?

The beauty with these 60ohm Koss drivers is that they really open up to amps. You see people hooking them up to SR-71s and etc, and they really sound way more than $20 should

I <3 my KSC-35s, I have a Pocketamp2v2.

I can vouch for amping the KSC75. I use it with SR-71.

I've also listened to them straight out of my iPod when the SR-71 batteries died. The difference is very noticeable, and when amped, KSC75 sound pretty close to my SR60. And yes, when amped, they really do sound more than $20.

You can use them unamped, but then, they sound like... well, $15-20 cans.

If you're gonna use the iPod with an amp, you should definitely use line-out to maximize sound quality.

Okay, so what amp should I get, if I'm also going to get a Sik Din?

EDIT: Also, I'd like to be able to fit this in the same pocket as my iPod.

I don't know much about amps (or anything else head-fi, actually) since I made the jump from cmoy to SR-71 and skipped everything in between.

Don't you like any of Kramer's suggestions in post #2? I see him recommending PA2 or go vibe in numerous threads for amps under $100. In addition, he's a crazed KSC75 fan so I would think those amps sound good with the Koss cans.
