And we need to pick a "first dance" song for the groom and bride. He's been completely lazy on it, and the fiance is getting antsy. She's a bit of a worry wart. As best man, it's my job to fix things... wow this is getting tedious.

Anyways, we need to pick a song. We've thrown around some various ideas, but I think we need more options. This is where ya'll come in. Any particular favourites? He's not into the whole pop scene, so please no Boyz II Men or 98 Degrees. I might shoot myself if that's what came up for the poor guy, therefore we cannot just trust the DJ.

Some ideas, so you can see where we're at:

Eric Clapton - Wonderful Tonight
Righteous Brothers - Unchained Melody
Ann Murray - Can I Have This Dance
Joe Crocker - You Are So Beautiful
Blue Rodeo - Lost Together
Led Zeppelin - Thank You

Some of these seem like good choices, but I just want to be sure we're not leaving out something that would be better. Help me be able to concentrate on important things... like the bachelor party!

Van Morrison and Otis Redding both have many good "first dance songs" you may want to listen to some 30 second clips for a best of or something.

Great song!
Unfortunately it always reminds me of American Werewolf in London, I guess that's just the movie geek in me connecting dots!

just don't use The Police's "Every Breath You Take." i cringe everytime i hear that song in a wedding party. people think it's romantic but that couldn't be further from the truth.

anyway... i like "Love Song" from The Cure (cos i'm a Cure freak). Robert Smith proposed to his wife with this song.

bong, I am so right there with ya on Every Breath You Take. Please, no stalker music at the wedding.

Louis Armstrong's What a Wonderful World is a great first dance song, unfortunately now associated with "Good Morning Vietnam" in the minds of people who saw that movie. But a good choice if you can get past that.

Norah Jones' Feeling the Same Way could be a good first dance number.

I really like Marc Cohn's Walk Through the World from his Rainy Season album. I'm not sure if it's danceable, but it's the right sentiment.

I had another couple of ideas on the tip of my mind...rats. Will post again if they come back to me.

I thought "Careless Whisper" was a Wham! song. Oh well. But either way, isn't that song about a one night stand gone wrong, or something like that?
