I have the AKG Q701 with a JSDLabs O2 amp. From time to time I hear a loud screeching noise, almost like static but still a high pitched noise. Does anyone know why this is?

♩So gotta answer, if you call me maybe?♫But I just met you! And this is crazy, so here's my advice, and title change it maybe?♩
Having a more helpful title would have made this more visible.
Panda experiment advice:
Do experiments, is it your songs? DAC? Computer? Or something wrong in your amp
Plug the Q701's directly into the computers 3.5mm jack(it won't be loud) and listen for a bit(bear with it), do you hear it? If so, then it's probably not your O2.
Don't hear it?
Maybe try changing the cable as sometimes if the cable is faulty it could and has done weird stuff. If you don't have an ready replacement, then that's fine, just remember that it's there.
Try it with different computers directly out and with your O2 (AS IN REALLY DIFFERENT COMPUTER, NOT DIFFERRENT OS ON THE SAME ONE) Try to isolate at which stage it's wrong in.
Also try getting a different song, a CD to say, burn it into your current computer and also into a differnt one and do tests there too, it could also be your burning it not right(the CD's) or the program you use to burn the CD could have problems or not set up right or a faulty CD dvd drive. So use differnt computers, use EAC and or iTunes to rip it, if you don't know what to do, just stick with iTunes on ripping it for the moment, but Secure rip with EAC would be better although burst ripping in iTunes for diagnostic purposes is fine as well.
Na bra. I just used it on my xbox and it worked perfectly fine; when I use it on my computer it acts up. I think it's the front jack, probably need to use the back one. Also I plug it into my speakers on time to time using its jack and it will do it there too. Maybe when I get my sound card it will go away; I'm using onboard sound atm.
If it still happens when you plug your speakers directly into the jack and not O2, then it may be your computer or your files, did the xbox use the same song files?
If on your xbox it had the same audio files and it still happens when you plug your speakers or headphones directly into the computer and not using O2 then it's probably your computer's audio parts(Soundchip/card/codec etc)
♩So you just answerd, and this is crazy, but we may have found it! So call me panda, and all the other titles, are really♩HEEELPFUL♩, so do us a favor, and use good titles!♩For those that don't know, this is a song called "Call me maybe" that I parodied for Sushio
lol what!? Na. I went out and bought a shielded cable to connect the PC to the O2. I will be getting an actual soundcard soon too. I think it was just a bad connect plus by 3.5 cable was old as hell.
It's probably the old cable or sound card of your computer then sushio.
In deedio-do! Meant to say my* old cable. Yeah I used that cable for years in my truck connecting my phone to the AUX port to play youtube vids on long drives.Had a playlist goin' with classic rock when I didn't want to listen to my XM. So instead of getting the SC just yet... I bought a GPU waterblock instead and am mucking with my PC.![]()
