Hey guys.

i noticed that usually my HD555 are very laid back but when run on High gain on my Crossroads Edge amp.. i noticed they become very snappy.

every percussion crashes fast and disappears, the kick drums hit quickly and dont sound loose, and guitar strums have that tightness when they are freshly tuned .. is this what u call "Fast".


if u have tried out X-fi technology ..u ll get some idea of what happens.. the entire spectrum becomes tighter and more dynamic than before.... not artificially overdone like X-fi but in a natural and non-fatiguing manner

(of course X-fi otherwise colors the sound unlike the amp)

are there any headphones which are naturally so snappy and yet damn detailed?

something which plays every instrument with a snap and doesnt keep on lingering around.

i guess that headphone will be a non-sennheiser?

What is your pricerange? I had the HD555 but later on got the Audio Technica AD700 and find them to be much more detailed, fast, and snappy than the HD555. The Alessandro MS-1 would be good too but you would sacrifice quite a bit of soundstage (this goes for any grado/alessandro).

Definitely "snappy", that's for sure!

AD2000, depends on your budget though. Very snappy and detail that rivals DT880s.

well i ll check it out... i heard that in japan SA5000 are available cheaper.

and i heard that they are very fast and analytical and very unforgiving.

maybe they ll give me a contrast to sennheiser sound

AD2000's would work. Haven't heard them but they'd be perfect.

If they're too expensive, AD700/900 would be a good upgrade from your HD555's in all area's.
