By a good margin? there almost the same retail price, the M400 is $10 dollars more retail. Right now the M400 is less because it currently has a 5% discount for the early adopters. You need to compare apples and apples. Meaning these are both MQA versions.

Fair enough. But you're still getting less quality components, and less features. Would seem the topping, at this time is the better buy.

An example of my issue with smsl build is The volume pot and the lack of proper quad channel circuit on the sp200. M500 doesn't actually play its maximum rated formats, the outputs are improperly shorted when others are disabled. What I mean is the outputs are leaking voltage even when disabled. what they advertise is a fully functional, flawless product. When in reality it's not. They use the cheapest parts and methods of implemtation possible to achieve a product that measures decently.

It is probably inaudible if your talking about the distortion measurements.

Their are short coming with smsl that they neglect to mention.
Like on the 200, if you have have the volume at a value less than 9 o'clock. Their is a very noticeable channel imbalance.

This is not an issue with just 1 or 2 units. It's inherent in the pot itself.
