Ok, so i've built an RA-1 clone with an Elpac 24v PS. The spec sheet for the opamp say it can work from +/-2 to +/-18v. I have split the voltage with a TLE2426 and a buffer system, both made the opamp smoke. I'm getting around 12.43v per rail to the opamp.

Yikes! Does that hose the opamp?

Ok, I think you should only worry if the opamp inhaled....

Sorry couldn't resist...

I have smoked a few opamps in my day, but usually from plugging them in backwards. I like using opamp sockets in my projects, just in case this happens....and in my case, it always does....

That sounds like a presidential confession!

Sorry to hear about your OPA, los! Not sure what happened, but something I often do, along the lines of using cheap cans for the first test, is use a cheap OPA for the initial power-up. I have a dozen el-cheapo amps that see that duty regularly. I think they are TL072s. Sorry to to address your specific problem though.

Turn the amp on with the op-amp out of the socket and ensure that the voltages at the supply pins of the op-amp are correct relative to virtual ground.

Ok, so i replaced the opamp and it was just the opamp's fault. I now somehow get 11.22v of dc from one channel of the amp. Does anyone know how?
