What was the BIN price? Some guy didn't take it and instead gambled on regular bid process.

edit - ah heh it's that chrisnh911 guy...not really surprising, although if that BIN was low enough (like 39.99) I think he may lose this gamble.

This is outrageous. I bought a D-777 in excellent shape for around $40, added a couple of gumsticks and a charger and sold it for $85. It's a good player, but certainly not worth a $100 or more in terms of SQ.

chrisnh911 is a veteran vintage PCDP hunter on Ebay that I've seen bidding regularly almost every week. I believe he already owns several D-777s and is familiar with the going prices of a D-777.

IMHO the D-777 is really overrated, and I agree that $100 is quite a bit for one. By 'smokin', I was expecting a BIN of no more than $50, so I can understand why he took his chances with a regular bid. Several D-777s have not broken $100 lately, from what I've seen.

I guess. In terms of sound quality, I think the D-335 is better, and it runs off of AAs, is still fairly small, and has an LCD on the main unit. I guess it depends on personal taste, though *shrug*. I think the most sought after Sony PCDP is the D-515, though. The D-777 definitely has its share of fans, but I'd prefer the D-E905 to it as far as that form factor goes.

The D-777 is a pretty sweet sounding PCDP and it can fetch quite a bit depending on who's bidding on it. I wouldn't exactly call the D-777 the most sought after vintage PCDP in the world. Yes, it is sought after by some but there are other PCDPs in Sony line up and by others that are more sought after.

hi,
I re-read my earlier posts, and did not want to come off like I was knocking the gent that bids on all vintage discman either to buy or whatever, to each his/her own..I was trying to bring a good deal to the Headfi community, and to see if anyone was interested in this but was too late because a bid came along... Cheers either way.
