I ordered the ER4P's for Christmas and I am going to use them for portable use. Now I'm wondering, because I have $70, if I should get another pair of On ear or over ear cans. Would this be smart mabey get some senn. 485?
one thing ive learned about iemsis that they cant be your only good source of music. you cant wear them all day because of discomfort. my vote is to get these cans as a break from neutrality. grado sr60s are great. the senn 485s arent half as nice though. maybe you would like them though because your etys arent gonna have big bass at all.
my vote is for the sr60 but if you can spend $30 more you should probably get the ms1. i dont think any cans can beat grados in the low end. well that ive heard anyway.
I dunno.....I've heard both the SR60 and Sony MDR-V6, and I liked the Sony more. SR60 was treble heavy and not as well defined. But I guess it's more airy because it's an open can. No soundstage on either for gaming though.....that's what makes the HD555 a fav in the gamming world (not particularly a favorite here for music)
MS-1s are very good as computer phones. I've also had a lot of fun with KSC75s!
The KSC75s are better in my situation since the MS-1s tend to pull me into the music just a bit more and that can be distracting when I'm trying to type!
...one other point where the clip-on KSC75 beats out the MS-1s(or any other normal set of cans)is the fact that I can set my sound card to "mono" and listen with just one ear allowing my Wife to think that I'm listening to everything that she says since I don't have a housing visible on her side!!
