Title pretty much described my needs. But just in case I'll explain further.

All I need is a cheap MP3 player, with fantastic sound, sporting a slim and sexy form. Also, a display is necessary, so no Ipod Shuffle-esque suggestions. Video playback, picture viewing, and large capacity all take the back seat... they are neat features but I don't see myself using them. I imagine 4 gigabytes of storage would be enough, but I wouldn't mind going higher if the price is right.

I've done extensive research, and I have an idea of the model I want. I'd like to see what you knowledgeable people have to say first, than I will see if my idea matched with yours. If that's the case... than that player is the one for me!

Thanks!

Edit: I probably should mention my idea of "cheap". About $150 is nice. I wouldn't mind going up a bit if the benefits outweigh the costs.

cowon d2. i bought my 4g for 200 after tax. should be able to find it cheaper with the 8g out (or coming out) plus you can expand the memory later if need be. The thing is rather tiny. Form is sexy enough i suppose, especially with a scantily clad woman as a wallpaper....

i too would suggest the meizu or sony flash series. I happen to own all players mentioned in this thread and they are all good but the cowon is much much larger than even the meizu. Rhe sony seems to have the best base reproduction of any of these but its softwear is avs rubbish. The cowon is okay but too large and you are doing sports would not withstand a drop well at least cpared to the sony and esp the meizu

i have a sony - it does not work on my computer. they sound good but if you get stuck with sonic stage, it is hard. i have an old windows xp from 2002 i think that is in english. my sony is from japan. it will not install on my computer and neither will it transfer songs. be careful if you go for sony - i had this same trouble but to lesser extend when i was on hi-md. they sound good, but sony have heaps of followup to do to properly be labelled as user friendly
