I've always been interested in the Monster MD Tribute, but they are so expensive in the UK. (~£350)

Well, I'm more into analytical signatures to an extent.  MTPC is an excellent mix of fun and analytical.

since you prefer MTPC over ie8 why not get it? I personally prefer the ie8 over MTPC for bass and overall listening.

imho the mds have plenty of quantity and quality but does lack speed which is evident only when listening to bands such as devildriver, job for a cowboy, i killed the prom queen etc. but for linkin park, or any dub step stuff it's perfect:)

On sub bass quantity and quality you should end your search at the Future Sonics Atrios M5 (new version with MG7 driver).  Excellent sub bass and no bleed into the midrange (no mid bass hump).
