I'm returning a Corda Opera tomorrow and want to give maybe one of these amps a try:

Slee Solo
a Singlepower amp

Or maybe get a DIY built for:
Dynahi
Beta22
CK²III

...something else all together.

I do not have a chance to auditioned any so I pretty much have to go by other peoples impressions/opinions.

My current cans are HD650 and DT990 and I'm looking to try some Grados and the K701.

I listened to mainly rock, electronic music and a bit of everything else. While I appreciate some of Opera's attributes (soundstage, speed, detail) I'm looking for something that will be a big contrast to the Opera's somewhat sterile, lean and unexciting sound while maintaining the same level of soundstange, speed and detail.

Try a Singlepower Extreme. The amp sounds great and has a tons of power. The Extreme is very versatile and has been excellent with any headphone I have tried .... Senn 580/600, Alessandro MS2i, Beyer DT880, AKG K1000 and K701. The tuberolling possibilities are endless and the tubes themselves are inexpensive. I know he has a number of Extremes in stock so no wait.

I've been emailing Mikhail and he also recommended the Extreme and what I suppose are a set of tubes and adapters:

5998 output tubes
2C51 with adapter
5965 with ECC1 adapter
