Hi everyone..

During the shut down time of Head-fi. i made up my mind and decided to go with the Singlepower Amp SDS-XLR.

Actullay i have been thinking of this great amp for a long time, but the things confused me are Mikhail is supplying too many options...

Sometimes it's hard to choose.

In case i won't forget the important upgrade, I just orderd the Premium Model which nearly dose every common upgrades:

Power Transformer Plitron Custom Toroidal
Cardas Silver Soldier surcharge
Audio Note Silver Foil in oil coupling capacitors
Cardas Audio Wiring (Mutually Exclusive of #36)
Sylvania VT-231 Tubes each
Hytron 1951 6SN7GT tubes each
Hytron 1954 6SN7GT tubes each
Ken Rad 1943 VT-231 Tube each
Audio Output Capacitors Large
Solen Plate Voltage Input Capacitor
High Frequency Bypass Capacitors
Black Gate Power Capacitors Stage I
Black Gate Power Capacitors Stage 2
Black Gate Cathode Capacitors
Black Gate Cathode bypass capacitors
Pre-amp Output Balanced XLR section
Pre-amp Output S/E
Solid Silver Audio circuit upgrade (thick 99.99%)
Solid Silver Power Supply circuit (thick 99.99%)
2 sets of balanced
1 sets single ended
Digital Attenuator
Digital Display

Some upgrades or customlize choices are not in this sheet..such as Remote
The most confused questions are:

1. For the headphone output. the standard one is
1 XLR + 1 S/E
Only one volume control manages both of them..
I've thought three plans..
a) 2 XLR + 1 S/E Then how many volume controls are reasonable?
b) 2 XLR + 1 S/E + 2 Volume Controls

c) 1 XLR + 2 S/E + 2 volume controls...
I need to change both of the controls when i use the XLR output..is it hard to make them at the same volume.

2. The colour question!!!!!
My shelf is black.. and both of my cd players and power conditoner are silver...

But the silver sds doesn't look so good..

The chorme one is much better

But will add $3000 to the total......

Sleestack's SS1-XLR.. Black polished, mirror finished. pretty cool either. roughly $1000 more...

Can you guys give me any advice at the color designing? Mikhail told me even Ferrari Red is possible...

3. Can any SDS-XLR users suggest any efficient upgrades..Thanks so much..

....Seems a lot of problems, i'm kind of struggling right now. Need Your Help...

Congrats on your purchase. You will be highly rewarded at the end of your wait. I would Keep it at one volume control.
I really like the silver over the chrome or piano black. get the preamp options.
Enjoy headphone listening at its best!

(IMO of course)
Let it play for about 1-2 weeks striaght. it will be great when you get it but it will open up quite a bit. (at least mine did)
What source are you using?

Congrats on choosing the only amp I'd be ordering the day I won the lotto. I happen to like the silver, so if you don't, I can't help you there. I just wanted to admire your taste publically

I own half of your amp with less upgrade. Mine is the SDS-SE several upgrades. The SDS-XLR is two SDS in balanced configuration. If you have the fund get the chrome chasis or polished black.

I see. is it said like if i have 2 S/E jackets in this amp. Then they are sperately? or mixed?
I'm a technical idiot...
How can two volume switch control one balance output? Does that mean it's not real balanced???

When you use your SE jack, you only use half of your SDS-XLR, which is essentially a SDS. Get all of your headphone reterminated with balance termination. Each SDS amp inside your SDS-XLR is reponsible for driving the left and right driver of your headphone, hence, you need two seperate volume controls for both left and right channel.

congrats on getting the king of all amps. try to shoot a PM to Voltron to find out what he got for his power supply, since it looks really good and is the best sounding amp i've ever heard. and, yea please do get our phones reterminated... i heard it SE and i was far from impressed.

Oh....you might want to consider a tube rectifier PSU. Voltron SDS-XLR has one of the first tube rectified PSU. His amp is said to be one of the best SDS-XLR out there but I talked to Mikhail and he told me that some guy has even more options than Voltron amps. That guy's amp has more than 28 tubes I think.
