With the Platinum Extreme It comes to about 2000. The Supra isnt much more. Should I stick with the extreme or spend a little more and go with the supra.
Thanks for any input.

Moon audio says the supra starts at about 2500. So yes a basic configuration is about 500 more. Is it worth it? Those caps look huge.

The Extreme/Platinum is much newer than the Supra design, and uses circuit boards rather than point-to-point wiring. And the base specs of the Extreme Platinum (including its Plitron power transformer) arm it well for multiple purposes.

Thanks. Also I was going to have the 12 volt heater tube option with the extreme. Thats because i have a bunch of marconi(phillips miniwatt) 12sn7gt tubes. So the tube options would be even more than stock. On my old system the soviet flying wing 6as7g along with the Phillips(marconi) sounded the best of all my tube rolling. I hope i get more of it with the extreme. But dang that supra looks nice.

I guess I will stick with the extreme platinum. I already ordered it just a couple days ago(friday). I just dont want to get upgradeites. Its not to late to change since he hasnt even started the build out to a platinum yet. From the responses I have got so far the extreme is getting good reviews even compared to the supra. All the woman in my house said yes to this once, dont think twice would happen. I will still appreciate any comments though from anyone who has dealt with the same delema between the supra and extreme.

I'm in the same dilemma. I am looking to upgrade my amp (possibly to a Singlepower) but I don't know where to go. There was a SDS SE in the f/s section that I missed and would have bought. I'm basically debating between a used supra (maybe balanced) or an extreme platinum (maybe balanced), or a SDS SE if i can find one. If you have had experience with these amps please help. Thank you.

Am sure you'll be happy with the Extreme Plat. I had mine since Feb & I love it along with the RS1s.
Use good sources, cables, etc.-- this amp will just reveal as you upgrade your ancilliary gears.

The Supra & SDS with high voltage upgrade will have excellent impact and dynamics, but the Supra will be more refine sounding. The SDS is the Supra with tweaked circuit for an even better tonality.

This post caught my eye. You really think so? I have a thing for impact, dynamics and tonality. What about a balanced plat. extreme with the off board PS? Do you think one could be left wanting more?

There is always more to want

I'm very familiar with my Extreme Platinum which I use at work for 4-8 hours a day and it's a very revealing amp. It has the option to increase the output voltage to 400V which really increases the dynamics as well as improving refinement of tone.

It'll allow you to roll warm-sounding tubes vs more neutral ones and hear the difference very easily.

I'd say it is a very punchy sounding amp and one that should satisfy most tastes.

The Supra is worth getting with the SE (high output voltage option) at a minimum. It's supposed to be more refined than the Extreme and that is all that Mikhail will say on the matter

I had a maxed out Supra XLR for a short while and it's very easy to fall in love with.

I didn't have time to do really extensive comparisons, but it was clearly more revealing than the Extreme - then again it was maxxed out and had a list price of 9k...
