Silly question - someone recommend me a case? :)

Hi, I just bought a 5G 60GB iPod (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130704814175?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_500wt_1287) which after 7 years is miraculously still in brand-spankingly new condition thanks to being controlled via a car head unit for its entire life :)

The problem is I don't want to ruin its condition by using it 'naked'! Can someone recommend me a cheap case which 1) won't bulk it up, 2) won't affect scroll wheel usage too much and 3) will keep it in this looovely condition?

I just don't know which ones will fit - is the 60GB video the same thickness as the 6th (not 6.5/7th) gen 160GB Classic?

Cheers :)

I can see how it is not silly at all, I'm in the same situation every time I get something 'new' :) Btw, I find this case fantastic for the price http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Brenthaven-Black-60-80GB-iPod-Video-Flip-Case-Cover-/250361255097?pt=Other_MP3_Player_Accessories&hash=item3a4ab194b9. Seems they also ship worldwide. Also, in case you would like to look at those cases for the newer Classic ipods, those may fit the old 5G 30GB but not 60/80Gb (in rare cases, they may not since the new Classic is a bit thinner than 30Gb Video)

Thanks for the suggestion. Are you a foreign english speaker by any chance? If you're not, I don't mean any offence at all, I just have an interest in second languages :) The bits I bolded are every so slightly (or quite possible not at all) off from what I as a native speaker would say. Meh, just curious :)
That case looked good, but it seems a little big? Also, a review says "If you have this in a purse of are carrying it around, there is nothing to keep the ipod from slipping out the top."
Any others? :) cheers

Yes, English is not my first language and I'm trying to improve it. I appreciate your grammar inputs :) As for the case, it is a little thick but protection is very good (plus it looks better in person). I would say you'd have to try a bit to pull the ipod out of the case. It fits the 60/80Gb Video snugly so there's no risk of ipod slipping out.

No (it's a bit weird, "yes" would be correct, but it sounds a bit odd), English is not my first language, and I'm trying to improve. ^ Just because as a foreign language learner myself I'd always want people to correct me.

Okay, thanks for that :) The hole in the back doesn't seem very nice http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/414V97Bvm4L._SS400_.jpg and it looks like I'd end up getting scratches and dirt on the back of the iPod. What do you think of something simple like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120859809293#ht_1687wt_1270 ?

Haha, I mean yes for your question if I'm a foreign English speaker but yeah, this whole 'yes - no' point still confuses me sometimes.

Didn't realize you wanted a silicone skin (since you wrote 'case'). IMO, a thick case offers better protection but if you really want something thinner, look at Griffin or Belkin products (which look good and pretty durable). Try to avoid the generic Chinese skins as in most cases they turn out bad-looking with sloppy quality.

Still can't find any :D It's so hard to find ones in the UK for either the 60/80gb 5th gen or the *thick* 160GB. Most are selling cases for the thin 160GB or the 30GB 5th gen..

I don't think this will fit, it says Classic 80/120/160, and then 80/120 are thinner than the Video 60GB.

That case fits my classic 6G or 7G, or whatever it is. And I also gifted an iPod video 80 gb that it fit quite nicely.

I went for this http://www.flickr.com/photos/93388549@N00/sets/72157594487346675/ by the way. £5.50 from eBay (hoping it's a legit model and not some fake one :) ). Do you think I should get a sticker cover (invisible shield or something) as well to keep it in totally mint condition?

It looks fine IMO. As for film protector, I use this http://www.ebay.com/itm/150707334250?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649, nothing fancy but you get a 4-piece kit that covers most of the surface.

How do cheap generic protective films compare to more expensive ones? Is the clickwheel usability affected, and does they leave a mess when you take it off? I might go down to the local 'random phone unlocking shop' and pick up a few but I want to know if they're even worth spending a couple of quid on.

I can't answer since I can't justify spending more than a few bucks for 'brand-name' protectors (IMO, they all look the same: clear plastic sheets and that's it). I've had the Insten sheets (above link) installed on my ipod for a while now and the clickwheel works just fine. They don't come off too easily especially when used inside a case and leave no glue residue if you want to replace or get rid of them. Heck, you can even wash them and reuse (as advertised :D) but I guess it's not worth it since it's pretty cheap to get a replacement.
