I personally like the Ram Din because it's less cable going from my iPod to PA2v2, but I notice a lot of people use the Sik Din, which would require an additional cable, is there some sort of benefit to this? Does it sound any better using another cable?

Just curious!

I think a lot of us have the Sik Din because that was what was available when our purchase decision was made, and it's not crucial to upgrade.
Ram Din is fine for you.

True. In fact using the din provides the possibility to justify cases of hard upgraditis since you just *have to* swap through a plethora of mini2mini cables.

I'm looking to buy one of these to get replace my stock iPod dock since it broke and I'd like it not to take up as much space...

Would I be better off just getting the Sik Ram Din or a PocketDock with a Cardas mini to mini IC? How is the cable on the Sik Ram Din?

Depends on how much $$$ you can spend. Pocketdock and custom IC combination can be limitless, but sound quality is supposed to be better depending on how high end your setup and critical your ear is

.

I went for the Sik-R-D because it has a small connector plug going into the ipod. It's just like the Apple USB one, with two release buttons on the side. Fits with most if not all cases, while the PocketDock is a lot larger and some cases even require a little cutting to accommodate.

I was thinkin of getting a Sik Ram Din, but I was skeptical about the SQ of the cable it uses. I was thinking I was safer with the PocketDock incase I would want to upgrade my cans + the IC in the future.

This shouldn't be a problem since I only use this setup in my sig at my desk and in my pocket while I walk around the house.

Not to mention that the combination of a PocketDock + 1/8" plug is substantially longer than the ram din. Fitting the resulting array into your pocket could be a challenging prospect.

Let me put it this way. I had the sik din ram and decided to sell it for a pocket dock and an rnb RA to RA $55 Cable. Honestly i cant tell the difference, as well as its quite a bit less flexible and makes the whole thing bigger. Unless you plan on upgrading your amp and headphones to much more expensive equipment, i highly doubt you will really notice the dif.

i just ordered one from turbo...it's smaller than the pocketdock and has the clips on the side for securing to the dock. nice guy and easy to deal with, too.

That lineout by TURBO looks perfect... what's the price? How does it compare in size with the normal dock connector? Also with the Sik Ram Din... is that FW cord removable? If it is, I might just look into getting that instead.

No, if you want to remove the FireWire cord, it will be more of a permanent option. Sik has the smallest connector of all though, it is no bigger than the one coming with your iPods USB2/FireWire/whatever you get these days cable.

email turbo for price and availability. he also makes interconnects if you need/want one.

the firewire can be removed on the sik din, but you'll have to cut it off.
