Here's my dilemma.

Before joining Head-fi, I bought a pair of Senn PXC-250 B-stock (customer returned) primarily based on listening between the other headphones that my work sells. They sounded really great and isolated well in comparison (for not being circumaural). At the time, I thought I was getting a great deal . I suppose I did as those were the headphones that got the ball rolling and eventually brought me here.

However, after listening to a pair of Shure E2c, I've realize that I could find a fairly detailed headphone that isolates well. Now the 250's sound muffled/veiled in comparison.

So here's the deal: I think that I should sell my 250's. The only thing is, should I buy one of the shure line, or should I get a portable headphone amp to use with my SR60's/KSC-75's instead (both really isn't an option at the time). I'm torn.

It's one o' clock here, and my wife is currently yelling at me, so I have to shuffle off to bed.

Any suggestions?

if i were you i would try out more of the Shure line cause you like the e2's so much and see if you can get something better (to you) now and then maybe worry about a headphone amp..

the e2's started me on the iem road and even after customs i still love the shure line (have not tried the westone or U.E. stuff yet).

I haven't listened to the SR60 or KSC-75, but I do own a pair of Shure E500's and I must say they are excellent. Since it seems like you like the E2c's, i suggest you try the E4c's or even E500's. From my research the E2c's are driven by a single driver that doesn't produce good bass. The E4c's however are dual drivers which produce better bass and people can testify to the improved quality but the E500's top them all being driven by triple high-definition drivers (1 tweeter and 2 woofers) . And if you do go with the shure line, why not get the best of their line? right?

LOL @ you trying to ruin other's wallet
I'm using e4c and happy with it , e4c is not dual drivers though, it's only single, and the bass is not good though. So if you listen to rock or something similar, you will feel disappointed, but it's excelent to listen to classical, guitar ...

be careful just "moving up" in a brand's line - for example, I was impressed by the e2c, love my e3c's but DID NOT like the e4c - at least, not at all driven off an iPod 60GB.

The SE530 (former ES500PTH?) is triple. AFAIK the e4c is still single, and while it had a LITTLE more bass than the e3c, the highs were (to me) grating.

...then again, I like a darker phone at the expense of "Detail" - hence my selling my RS1s and getting HD600s - sure the RS1 was more fun, more lively, more detailed, but after half an hour to an hour, the "fun" was replaced with "fatiguing" whereas I could listen to the Senns for 6-8 hours no problem.

Sounds like you're already into the IEM sound, I say stick with IEMs.

As to 3x0's comment, I own both the E3c and the KSC75 and the SQ in terms of detail and soundstage it is not even close in favor of the E3c. Although admittedly I haven't listened to the E3c for months and the Koss is getting daily usage (too lazy to put in the IEM)...

Thanks to everyone who's posted. It was late and I forgot to mention that portability is something I was interested in (along with isolation). That's why the shure line caught my eye.

In a way, I feel a little sheepish about selling them. Maybe it's the whole "first love" thing. Maybe it's the fact that my wife will find out and yell at me about selling a headphone that's originally $140 (she doesn't understand this hobby in the least).

All I know is that the E2's that I listened to were a world above the HA-FX33's (then again, nearly five times the cost). At least now I can hear the difference.

Just to give the other perspective. Hated the e5c, e3c, e3c. LOVE my e4c. Bass is super tight. Driven by ipod video 60gb but with eq on Rock.

wait, wait a sec, you people kind of spiraled out of control here, we went tfrom the $60-$80 price range to headphones costing $250-$300 in a small number of posts, i know there are alot of Shure fans here, but i suspect our friend here does NOT have the independence from his wife/family to be able to drop $300 on a pair of headphones and survive....

the Shure E2C are decent, but you can get a better deal picking up a pair lf Mylar X3' s at jaben, $57 bucks shipped to the states, and people say they are inline with atleast a pair of E3C or Super.fi UE,

you all know the forum moto.. Welcome to Head-fi, sorry about the wallet
