Yoz.... Does anyone know if it is possible to fit the Shure's foam sleeves on other earplugs like Panasonic HJE50 or Sony MDR-EX51/71??? I'm thinking of purchasing the Shure's foam sleves and fit it into my current earplug Panasonic HJE50 and my friend is also thinking of doing that to his Sony MDR-EX71 as it would ensure a better fit into the ear to provide an isolation listening environment. So... Has anyone tried it out before or does anyone know if this is possible? I would really appreciate all your opinions on this... Thanks...

Can the people out here who are using Shure earphone please do me a favour? Please correct me if I'm wrong... From what I know, the foam sleves of the Shure's earphones are a cylinder with a hollow space in the midde with uniform diameter (not sure about this).. Can you please kindly help me measure the diameter of this hollow space?? I would like to know if it can fit my earphone. Please state 1) the brand of the Shure's earphones you're using, 2) the foam size (Large, medium or small) and 3) the diameter of the hollow space.. I would really appreciate your help... Thanks in advance...

I have e2c ans EX51s and the tips do fit if you stretch them a bit, but not very well. You can stretch them on easily, but it places the driver considerably farther out from the ear.

How about cutting normal earplugs (the type you use for sleeping) and fitting them on the buds, similarly to the mods made to the Koss Plugs on Headwize? IO think I'll try that on my EX51s.

I fit e2c (L) foamies onto my ex71s a few days ago - the fit was a little tight, but it seemed just right. I don't remember any increase in sound quality or isolation, but ymmv. As kramer5150 mentioned, the driver is placed further from the ear because of the long tips - it might even sound worse.

why don't you try the medium size foams? will it be better?? will the driver be nearer to your ear?? cos foams are supposed to give better isolation as they'll expand inside your ear... hmm... it really doesn't enhance the bass??

It works for the Koss Plugs, so it could work for the EX51. Only way to find out is trying, right?

All the different sized foamies are the same length. I've heard of people successfully modding EX's with Tri/Biflange tips. Perhaps that is something you could look in to?

oh ya... anyone knows the correct way of puting the foamies into your ear? do you have to squeeze it and compress it before you fit it into you ear or you just push the whole thing in and let the foamies follow the shape of your ear canal??

I'm afraid I can't find the thread...

But here's yet another Bower mod: http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=85835

also, search "ex71 mod" or "ex70 mod" and you'll see lots of threads on how to change these phones
