I need advice about these hedphones: Shure SRH840. These headphones are hard to drive by a tube headphone amplifier in class A? My headphones amplifier have two outputs: first 300 ohm deliver 2W in class A and second 32 ohm deliver 1W in class A.
Thanks!

The Shure's are not hard to drive at all. I can drive them very well with my Cowon D2. However, the sound does improve when used with my Rotel RA-01 integrated amp.

I'll hope to help me with lots of answers. Unfortunately I cannot hear these headphones at my headphone amplifier because of the authorized distributor from my country

I have never heard the Yarland but from reading it's specs I would think it would have no trouble driving the Shure's. Whether it would make all that much difference is a different thing and I'm afraid I can't comment. It's unlikely to make the sound worse though. Good luck.

Hey Adu

If you've got some time just check out the review I've written through the link in my signature. It might help you in some sort.

The Shure is a decent headphone.  Nothing super special, but definitely a decent all-arounder.  Very easy to drive IME.

+1, nothing super special.

Is this headphone "mediocre" comparative with K701? What are the strenghts of the Shure SRH840? I've own a pair of K701; these headphones was very good in many areas but in the bass area it wasn't so good. I hope that SRH 840 to deliver more bass and soft, warm high's.

I think mediocre's probably unfair but they're pretty neutral, in as much as they seem to give all frequencies a fair shake. I think they tend towards the warm side of neutral though.

Their neutrality is a good strength,  they are the headphones when you don't want t o much color, I'd say that's good if it's what your  after.

i like the sound signature of shure840...more towards the warm side, fuller and punchier than my akg702.
But i sold the 840 becos of its weight(300+grams?)  on the head..and the heat..its warm in my country..
i cant sit thru a session of say two hours..

the akg702 is airier..wider.. hmmm...and very light on the head. (100++grams ? ). love the overall package.

The 840 is very easy to drive...even my simple sansa clip+ sounds great with the 840...
but wont wake up the akg702...lol.

hope this helps.

I like them more than the K701.
