i think the shure does a better job at this price point. As the title says, I narrowed down to the two headphones.
I will use them for casual listening and I mostly listen to beatles, led zeppelin, ac/dc and a lot of music from the 60s and 70s.
Which headphone would be a better choice?
I've heard a lot of good reviews about each one.
Are the Shure phones for "professional use" only or are they good for casual listening too?

They both have a similar impedance curve. So i think it'd probably be equal.

I have been looking at the Shure lineup for a while now and the 440 and 840 were on my short-list for my next purchase. I realize there is a pretty significant price difference between the two and my hope was that the SRH440 was a sweet spot in the Shure lineup. I was worried that I would not get my value out of paying the extra $70 for the SRH840s.
Look forward to hearing your impressions.Alright. Just ordered Shure SRH440!

Excellent mids and highs, but a lack of bass.
I would recommend it to everyone but the only thing is, it is absolutely ruthless to bad quality songs. I simply CANNOT hear youtube songs through these headphones, it makes me nauseous!
So the Shures just arived, and I have to say they are extremely good for their price!Look forward to hearing your impressions.

As for the Bass, I am not a huge bass fiend, but would require that the headphone accurately reproduce the bass as intended, not enhanced bass, just natural. I would be interested in hearing other impression on the SRH440. I will need to do some research.
Thanks again.
Interesting, maybe a sign that they are very accurate, detailed headphones.,,,,, it is absolutely ruthless to bad quality songs. I simply CANNOT hear youtube songs through these headphones, it makes me nauseous!

If you arent a basshead it shouldnt be a problem. The bass is there, and its just enough for me.Interesting, maybe a sign that they are very accurate, detailed headphones.
