Shure SRH1540 Review

It sounded pretty good on the LG V20, but it didn't go up load enough to block substantial ambient noise. A higher power DAP or amp would be a better option.

Was this straight plugging it in or first plugging in an extender into the V20 and then the SRH1540 into the extender to get that extra power?

No adapter used....straight into the phone. The Shure SRH1540 sounds gorgeous out of my Sony NW-WM1A with a balanced Pentaconn 4.4mm cable. This is the first time trying them single ended out of a phone. Sony and my other DAPs have spoiled me.

How is the headband in terms of comfort? I had some comfort issues with the Momentum 2.0 which have the same type of headband (not that much padding, creating hot spot after 30 min. listening). I've sold them because of that...

They don't seem to be uncomfortable at all for me.

No comfort issues with the headband in stock, but ordered one of the Beyerdynamic covers a while back and it didn't fit well so cut the foam out, trimmed it down and fixed it with velcro:

This is an older image from when I was experimenting with it, hence you can see the tape holding it on xD The velcro is a much more elegant solution. If you're not a fan of the two strips then this is a really simple fix.

Zero problems hear with the headband. Very comfortable there and overall. Superb comfort.

I am seriously interested in this headphone. I currently own the K712 Pro for my open back, and a Focal Listen for my closed back. Has anyone compared the Focal Listen to the SRH1540, or perhaps to the Focal Spirit Professional ?

Picked these up last week, been afaft these for years and found a deal I couldn't refuse.
Week on and these are very impressive cans, they are open sounding, very comfy and detail is off the scale!
Much better than my current HD569/579.
They are not even in the same league.

I have always wanted to hear the SRH1540. Eventually, this will be the closed back headphone I upgrade to from my current Focal Listen. In a few days I am buying the Beyerdynamic Amiron Home to upgrade from my K712 Pro.

I as well just acquired some Shure 1540's. Second hand with light usage, got a deal I couldn't refuse as well :) I'm really enjoying them so far, quite musical and sound fantastic!>

I also just got a set of Shure 1540's via a deal I couldn't turn down. Out of my iPhone they sounded ok, but not really all that impressive... it wasn't until I plugged them into my headamp that I heard what they are capable of, and now I am loving them.

My one gripe is the crappy cable. Gods I hate that stiff, perma-bent thing and I am thinking of replacing it with something like this (because OMG is it pretty): https://www.amazon.com/Silver-Carefully-Srh1840-Srh1440-Upgrade/dp/B00JUGMBNO

Haven't posted here in a while...I've been using Hifiman HE-100 v2 for the most part. It has to go back, 1 channel out, so I plugged the 1540 into my Liquid Carbon in the interim. Man, it is REALLY good sounding! (not that comfortable after a short while, though, why I never used them routinely).
