Hi, I found the Shure SRH1440 for about US$320 in Hong Kong. Is this the best choice for me? I listen to a lot of different genres of music, but mostly alternative and electronic. If I buy the headphones from DMA Audio, will I be able to get them serviced in North America? I apologize for the brevity; I'm typing this on my phone. Thanks.

No. There are better headphones for $250 that are better than the SRH1440. Even if you were to prefer the SRH1440, you can get them in the states for $270.

You can buy one from reputable sellers on eBay by putting a best offer for $270. That's how I was able to get mine, anyway.
 
The K701, for one, is better IMO than the SRH1440.

Can you speak on the 1440's mids and highs compared to K701 and Grado phones and low level listening experience?

The 1440s are excellent low volume listeners. I don't have Grados or or AKGs to compare with but against the Beyer 880Pros, you can listen to them and still hear details at 2/3 of the volume. Maybe even less.

I just picked up a pair of 1440s today and I'm blown away.  I chose these over the AKG K701s because these come in at a favorable 37 Ohms and are equipped with great accessories.  Warmth, balance, depth, and control sum these cans up.  I have no intention of changing my 'at-home' headphones from these.

Whoa. It really depends on what you are looking for. For electronic, I would pick neither K701 or the SRH1440. I personally prefer SRH1440 over K701. Just more smooth mids and treble.
