Hi,
can someone advice me an upgrade cable for my SE846 which is very very soft ? Links. 
i have already a silver cable from Ted (2,5mm balanced connexion), a linum balanced cable (2,5mm balanced cable), and the stock cable. i'm looking for something not expensive and very good. will use it with my AK380 in the 3,5mm connexion

I have posted about this cable before on this thread. I have found it to be good and if by soft you mean pliable than this cable will do. And it's not expensive either. And as a bonus it has a built-in mic.

Those wanting to change the sound of the Shure SE846 as drastically as possible for the least amount of money (other than utilizing EQ), should seriously look into the Knowles Dampers.  Made me a believer!

I was considering the Chord Mojo, but I'm not crazy about needing to use the Camera Kit to connect it to my iPhone.  The Oppo HA-2 seems like it might be the next best option.  Maybe I could save some cash by buying a DragonFly Black; the Camera Kit cable might not be so bad, pairing with the small DragonFly.  Any other good options?

Because of the shape of the SE846's impedance curve, you need an extremely low output impedance system or the bass will be significantly emphasized compared to mid/highs.

Right, guys, I'm going to buy an SE846. I heard them again couple weeks ago and was blown away. I've found them for a pretty decent price, so I'm going to go for it.
 
Now, I need some recommendations for relatively cheap DAC/Amps that go well with it (i.e. have close to zero output impedance and no hiss). I have an AudioEngine D1 and I've been happy with it so far, but it's 10 Ohm output impedance is too much.

I thought this would be interesting for your guys... 
 
I see a lot of talk in this thread about how one DAC/AMP sounds much warmer than the other. I'm convinced it's purely down to output impedance. Due to the unusual shape of the SE846 impedance (16 Ohm in the lows, an astonishingly low 4 Ohm in the mid/highs), the output impedance of your amplifier will have a dramatic effect on the total frequency response of the system.
 
To demonstrate this I did a little simulation. Please note the impedance plotted is a rough capture of the real thing, but the results should be within 0.5 dB accurate. 

 
The plots below show how much the output impedance of your amp will affect the FR. If it's more than 1 Ohm it will quite noticeably make the headphones sound duller. 10 Ohm and we're talking a 7 dB dip in the mid/highs!!

I'm new to these IEMs, but I can report that I've been getting great results using Etymotic Glider tips. Their strange shape works well with IEMs seating like these ones.
