Shure SE846 Impressions Thread

just got a pair of 846's and they are incredible, replacing ER4s that i had been using for about 16 years I'm very happy with them but they are lacking in the highs a little. I gather that a silver cable might help with this, can anyone recommend a silver cable that wont bankrupt me?

Pretty happy with mine running balanced with ZX2.

yes im using the white filter and removed the foam from blue filters

second person to recommend him to me thanks, i was hoping to find someone in the UK/EU

will look into the knowles filters, think i have some somewhere from when i tried them on my ER4 a few years ago, but i am thinking about another cable as i needed another shure cable after my wife unsuccessfully tried to remove the memory wire on her shure 535

My SE846 came with a hybrid cable from Forza in Warsaw, Poland.  I'm very happy with this cable - it's got a nicely balanced sound that IMO complements the sound stage of the 846.  Here's the link - should be easy in the EU.  Mine are the hybrid series IEM - around 139 Euros.

Once I get my 8's back from Shure I'd like to maybe try out the Knowles filters, or no filter with the foam only in the nozzle. I know that I'm going to let one of my cables go, but I haven't had time to decide which. My focus has had to be on school, but my last Spanish exam is tonight (gracias a Dios).

If you're thinking of upgrading cables and filters I'd settle the filter upgrade first and then cables. The Knowles make a far more substantial upgrade and will reveal cable differences easier. They also are great for bringing out the best of the cables or to tame them.

Anyone here can compare se846 to lcd x the differences, which is better at one thing and not the other?, I used to have se846, but it was stolen, and I may have the opportunity for a lcd x around Xmas

Why would you compare an iem and an over ear?

Because I would use either to listen to music.... Because this is an audio forum... Because thy both are expensive to me and I want to hear people's opinions as I value other forum posters.
Because I can.
