I've compared the AKG K3003i and Shure SE846. If anyone wants to read the review, feel free.

headphone.com just posted the SE846 measurements.

That means that Tyll Hertsens had them in his hands, as he does the messurements for them. That's interesting.....

Am I the only one who finds this headphone.com result puzzling? I mean, per shure specs, the black - warm - filter is supposidly a 2.5dB drop from the blue - balanced - filter in 1-8khz range. Yet looking at this curve, the black filter looks more like a bass reducer, the opposite of warming.

I wonder if there was a sealing / assembly issue for the red curve. In any case, that made me curious about the black filter so I am going to give it a shot :).

Well, I just popped in the black filter and it does seem to take the bass a couple of notches down and rolling of at both ends of the spectrum (hence the warm filter name?).

It's been just a few minutes so far but my first take is that, while I feel the bass more balanced relative to the rest, this black filter feels like it's adding a bit too thick a curtain between the drivers and my ears (something I could not guess from the measured response) and it's not here to stay.

Well we have had two graphs posted supposedly setting forth the frequency response of the 846s. They seem to be wildly different. In the first grapf the blue and black filters were almost identical now the white and blue seem similar except for the treble bump with the white filters.

Can anyone explain the disparity of the graphs and if either is accurate considering the variations?

Who hears over 10khz anyway right? That's an iem that I will never buy. Probably people will hate me after this post but seriously guys, do you find this normal?

You mean 1K where it starts to roll off. Looks like another "missing highs" Shure. That's unfortunate.

Charts are for nerds. It's not how it looks it's how it sounds.

For example....SE535 versus W4: W4 highs extend a bit higher but the "veiled, clouded" lower midrange makes it all a moot point. The SE535 midrange high doesn't extend quite as high but the entire midrange is crystal clear making it sound much better overall to my ears. Only a weather chart would show clouds and veils, not a frequency response chart.
