Hi,

I'm at a cross-roads and deciding between the Shure SE535 or something else.

At the moment I have Shure SE425 IEM and  AKG K702 full-size headphones as my best that I currently own.

Unfortunately I can't quite afford the AKG K3003 or Shure SE846 IEM. So I was looking at the 535 as a step-up in audio performance, whilst I'm not looking at a big boost in low-end I'm hoping the extra driver will fill the void the SE425 can't deliver.

My buying decision is on hold at the moment although before I commit to any final decision I wanted to see what you head-fi veterans thought about them. They will be used on portable equipment although not just for listening to music.

Any advice gratefully appreciated.

Hello

You can also look for a used akg k3003
Or shure se846 i think it would be a better upgrade or go to a store and listen to the se535 of it is worth to upgrade to from the se425

The second-hand market is something I never really considered. ...

That's another option. I looked at Grado GR10 IEM and they seem to benefit from an amplifier.

TBH  I'm more into analytical detail than tuned-eq.

Thanks for the reply.
