A little over a month ago I purchased the SE420 and have been very happy with them, especially if I am driving them with my Total Bithead. Since I did not buy the SE530, I have been wondering recently if I should have purchased the SE530s since they are Shure's highest end model. Has anyone done extensive back to back comparisons between the two models? If so, which one do you prefer and why?

I will have to agree with that. The high's, and generally everything sounds more neutral. Just lacking the E500/SE530 presentation/soundstage. Bass is definitely starved if you're a basshead.
