I've got a pair of SE530's; they're about 10 years old. The sound is still fine, but a month ago the strain relief detached from the L shell, and then yesterday that shell disintegrated entirely (too bad it's made of plastic instead of metal). [Please see pics below.]
I understand Shure no longer repairs the SE530. I'm in the US (Los Angeles). What are my options? [Searching the forums, I found threads about this from 2011–2012, but I'd like to know what the current options are.]
I did find this online (https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/C0-R...1353478.html?spm=a2g0z.search0305.4.57.3gZLM0), but I have no idea whether these really are a match for my shell, nor how difficult swapping one of these out would be in practice. From the pic, it looks like repair would require more than simply moving the parts to the new case -- it looks like there is a seal that needs to be made airtight, and I don't know if the existing seal needs to be replaced to accomplish that, nor how tricky it would be to actually achieve a proper seal.
Finally, I understand I could send them to InEarz to get a custom shell, but that's not what I'm looking for--though if someone wants to convince me that's a good option, I'm open to it. I find the SE530's very comfortable, but one side does keep popping out when I'm trail running. If a custom would be more secure, just as comfortable, wouldn't significantly reduce the sound quality, and provide the same or better sound isolation, I'd be willing to consider that.
