I just found out I get 1 set of Shure IEMs at 50% off retail through a corporate partnership!

My prices are going to range from $130 on the SE310 to $225 on the SE530.

My question is, for the money, which IEM has the best sound quality? Are the extra drivers and top-of-the-line name of the SE530 really worth an extra $100?

Also, how would the sound compare to a pair of Er-6i that I have?

Would these match well with the Meier Move or iBasso D1?

Thanks

How much do you like bass? The SE530 have more/better bass. The SE310 should have less bass but be more flat. Both will sound a lot more bass-oriented than your ER6i, and will seem to have rolled off treble in comparison.

I have a pair of ET-6's and the Shure e500's. To my ears, the sound of the e500 is much richer and fuller than the Ety's. While there is some missing treble, I think that the great bass and midrange more than make up for this. Even at twice the price, I think you will be happier with the e500.

It is a bit individual if it is worth it.

For me the upgrade from e4c to e500 was worth it (I don't remember, but isn't se310 comparable to e4c?)

I would just go for the top model with those prices, 95 USD difference isn't that much speaking in audio purchasing frenzy terms.

Whereas the e500's are most likely significantly better than the lower models, so I think the E500 is the best value in this case.

If you will use them alot it's more than worth its price, and going for the flagship model prevents upgraditis in the future, which you should also take in account.

I have the shure E500 and D1 and the sound is GREAT. No hiss at all and full, glorious sound, help to bring highs a bit and clean the whole spectrum. It is a killer combo.

Great, thanks for the advice guys. Definitely going for an iBasso D1 and the SE530. As a previous DT770 owner who loved them, I'm a big bass fan, which is my least favorite part of the Er-6i. Owning them so long I had forgotten that IEMs were capable of good bass...

I bought E500PTH new on eBay for $259 and sold my E2c, SE310 and E4c after I listened to the E500's - they sound good with or without my iBasso D1. The extra money was worth it, but the SE310's were my second choice for Shures. However, for non-Shures I did pick the Denon AH-C700 over the SE310 as well as the Livewires.

Interestingly, I am REALLY enjoying my new Livewires. And, at the same price I think I will have to recommend these over the E500's now. However, I will NOT be selling off the E500's - hey, sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't...

Strictly based on sound alone, which one do you prefer? The LiveWires or the Shure E500?
