Shure KSE1500 Review - Shure KSE1500 Sound Isolating Electrostatic Earphones

I agree, this is why my favorite tips for the KSE is Comply.
I have also the Flare PRO 2HD - which have wide tip size and they are also very tip depended.

Every IEM sound is changed by the tips - there is no way to avoid this. It is just with some it is more "visable" than in the others, and since we all have diferrent ears - it is a personal journy to find the right tip :)
BUT the KSE rulles !!! :):)

Too bad there is no way of having custom shells on the KSEs. If there was, I'd get them right away.

I've been recommending Sensaphonics full shells for KSE1500 all over the place for the lasts 2 years, posting measurements and such. However some time ago their service went bonkers, they f-ed up my own order with one side not working (air bubble probably), had to send it back to USA again, paying much for shipment from EU, and then they redone it only to ask me to pay their crazy shipping fees for the second time, even though it was 100% their fault (so I paid $150 or something - again).

After receiving the package I found they changed the color I originally ordered! And after I told them about this, asking for some kind of refund or rebate, they stopped responding to emails. This is the only company I know of that knows how to make shells for KSE1500 properly. So it's a shame, I currently can't recommend anyone. Oh, also the newer shells sound worse than my originals from 2 years ago. Somehow they did even that.

Well.... I think that you will have to replace your ears then :):)

Try the Comply tips,

But it would be preffered if peaplr here would say how big is their ear canal is - like I have a problem with big IEMs it is probably that people with big canal cant get a good seal with the Shures.

We're talking about full silicone shells now. KSE1500 has a huge treble peak at 8-10 kHz which yes, may be attenuated by comply for sure, or it may be pushed far past 10 kHz with a very deep insert. Sensaphonics make shells like that - very deep, showing the spike past 12 kHz. Snugs... do not. You get a huge spike at 8-9 kHz.

Look at the previous page here , i've posted pictures of the MOD i did to the comply tips - in order to eliminate any sound effect that the tip add - i cut the front inner tube and also the foam so the KSE tube is on the top end .
I dont hear any peaks at any FR. It is perfect for me and i have HQ equipment here.
I hope that you have replaced the PL-PL 3.5 cable - this has tromendes efect on the sound too.

I'm testing KSE with the Astell SP2000 at the moment. On one hand Chord Hugo 2 was more impressive but at the same time it was always very seriously sounding. You listened with admiration but It lacked some fun element. With the KSE resolution and detail retrieval was insane, too much even and every listen was quite intense. SP2000 is quite neutral but in a organic and very natural way so it seems better fit with the KSE.

agree, i have the SE100 and i love it relaxed and "Musical" presentaion - this is what folks love about AK, you should try the KSE with some R2R DAC .....wow!

Tell me, do i see silver in the 3.5mm cable?

a thought just came across ... that i never tested the KSE with my Cowon PL... AK DAPs have wide stahe but front is very close, on the other hand Cowon has deep fron stage and litle less wide and i think that KSE will benefit much from it.
Will test it at night and tell.

I've tested Cowon Plenue S and I liked it a lot. It was very velvety and sweet sounding but not overly warm or dark. Great detail retrieval and focused. Kinda pricey though espacially that the soundstage was only ok. Not poor but smaller than Sony WM1A and Ibasso DX220 and waaaaay smaller than SP2000 and HUGO 2 espacially.

Well .. this is not COWON thred... but the L is fantastic and way better than SE100, great holographic stage and relaxed sound. Had 3 hours yesterday testing the Flare PRO 2HD until i figured out the EQ for the IEMs - perfect now :)
