New member to Head Fi so Hi everyone
I just purchased a Sansa Fuze and am now looking for a good comfortable IEM to use. I travel alot, usually on 12+ hour flights, so comfort and isolation are huge for me. I listen to almost any type of music, except country and folk.
Mostly John Mayer, classic rock and Classical music recently(Flac copy of Dvorak New World!).
The fuze will likely be unamped, and if amped it will be with a Fiio E3.
My choices are ER-4P/S, Shure SE310, Q-jays, Westone UM1, Shure SE420 and Ultimate Ear Super Fi 5. I must stress comfort and isolation. Low microphonics are a plus as well.

Have you consider the SA6? They are a good choice if you want isolation and comfort. Otherwise the UM1 is a good choice for the genres you like.

I'm a rather clumsy person, and I have a feeling that I would lose the little pieces that make up the SA6 and then be stuck up the creek. How are the UM1s in SQ compared to the others?

Isolation on the ety's is unbeatable

With the right eartip they will be comfy enough you forget theyre there

They are quite balanced out for various types of music

Other choice to seriously consider is SA6

X2 on the ety4 With the shure olives tips(black foamies) they are as comfortable as the shure iems

They offer great isolation and comfort

Of course the shures would fit the bill also

Stay away from the UEs if you have small ear canals.
I loved the sound of the Triple fi but they hurt my ears so much I had to return them

one more question, how are the microphonics? Can I wear them over the ear, shure style? I have medium sized ears. I really want to buy headphones that I can use for 4-5 years before replacing, so build quality is also a concern. Thanks for all the help.

The ety's have been around longer than I have and seem to last. They can be worn over-ear, but with the diagonal cable it is a little tricky. Microphonics is noticeable but not annoying.
