I don't own either...but keep hearing rave reports of the e530's.

How would these compare to the UE-10's?

Ignoring the cost, and the fact that UE-10 are custom - how would the two compare???

I was going to get the UE-10's (or UE-11's if they ever come out) - or should I be looking at the e530's?

Thanks

I would say the E500/SE530s are about 95% of the 10s in terms of performance. Bass on both sound awesome but the 10s' rendition is tighter; the 500s has more slam. Midrange is the 500s main forte and slightly edges out over the 10s; very smooth & fluid. The treble rendered by the 10s are the best I've ever heard from an IEM; very clear & sparkly. There's definitely a roll-off of the treble on the 500s. Overall, the 500s have a fun representation of the sound while the 10s have a more natural one.

Both are ergonomic & very comfortable (as expected by 10s as they're customs), but it's quite a feat by Shure to have a universal IEM rival a custom in fit & comfort. I actually feel that the 500s are more comfortable because of it's thinner wire.

Money no object, you can't go wrong with either. If you're opting for the customs route, I would wait until UE comes out with the 11s. You can get the 500s in the interim & see if their sound fits your tastes; you can always sell them here with good resale value should you decide to definitely go for customs.

I've got the 530's and they are very very good. But from what I can make out they are both brillaint IEMs but two slightly different sound signatures.
The 530's seem to be a little better down the bottom end and have maybe slightly better bass, whereas the 10's have better mids and top end.
I don't think anyone would have problems with either of them though. I'm sure the bass on the 10's is just fine, because I know the mids and top end on these 530's are brilliant....

It's a pity no shops will let you test them both, or even stock them

I'd let anyone test mine, aslong as they had their own tips

the se530's is one of THE best universal fit IEM's, i love almost everything about it! i dont quite know about the UE 10's, they must be better... with all that custom molding in ur ear thing and from what i read ... they have the throne.

I still think the E500 is still my favorite earphone in terms of sound quality/signature among the HD600 (have) and D2000 (just sold due to fit). It's certainly an amazing IEM, especially when amped.

They are way addictive.

They are also a fraction of the cost. I've never tried a custom IEM, but unless the improvement in isolation means *that* much to you, or you're addicted to your ety/ue tf10 highs and are unwilling to amp/EQ them up, then perhaps the E500/E530 is for you!

Also remember that the UE 10 is a fit for life. It has no resale value at all. So if you think you might want to sell in the future to free up funds, you can forget about it!

no resale value...AT ALL?? i think that would be an overstatement.... i would buy it for a couple of hundreds and there are also other people who would like to buy them second hand ... like the second post in this thread..
