The Shure E500PTHs are just plain UNBELIEVABLE!!

I've been using these non-stop for the past week and I can't believe the details the've uncovered in music that I thought I knew so well. They totally bring out the entire production of each song. The bass response is so good, I swear I could almost feel it in my chest! The mids and highs are amazingly smooth with no harshness at any musical level!

I must say that I was going to purchase some top of the line headphones, but being that I'm completely blown away by these IEMs, I'll probably wait quite some time before doing so.

Sorry for the rant...just a man who loves his E500s!

...and especially since you have a very good source to start off with, it is no doubt one of the better IEMs.

Considering you can get it for a pretty decent price nowadays, compared to when it first debuted, I'd say that the E500/SE530s are one of the better IEMs available.

Definitely a worthy investment for those that "enjoy" music, rather than just "listen" to it.

lithe1, I see that you have a very similar rig. Nice!! The iMod makes a huge difference. Lovin' It!

Most definitely!

If you haven't had the chance to yet, I also recommend you get some listening time with the Sennheiser HD650 with your iMOD. It is a highly discernable step up, even from the Shure's, but the portability factor definitely goes out the window!

I love reading these threads where folks are impressed with the E500s. I'm very pleased with mine and like to see others pleased as well. I'm not sure that I'd consider the HD650 a step up. I think it's important for rolks to realize that the HD650 is a circumaural headphone, and the E500 is an IEM. They do indeed sound different, but I think that lithe1 is right.... if you like the sound character of the E500, you'll probably like the Senn HD650 as well. Enjoy!

In the last days I started to think that the E500 are boring.
If you want even more details, try the ER4P.

Yeah most people who own them tend to agree with you, theyre pretty damn sweet. Now if only shure would come out with a 3-way driver headphone. Ah well looks like I'll have to get in line for the Westone 3.

I've had mine for about 8 months now and still enjoy them immensely. Had the Triple.fi's and sold them, and also listened to the Westone 3, which are good, but didn't make me say "ooooh, gotta have these".

I'll stick with my Shure's for a long time.

Sometimes with some recordings I wish for crisper highs but that is virtually the only complaint from a long list of attributes. They are perfect in every other way. The overall presentation is still very detailed. No interest whatsoever in Westone 3's

when i got home today, mine were sitting on my front steps (along with my pk1's, it's like christmas in june)...

wow, do these things sound GOOD.... have them in with the tri-flanges now and have tried the yellow foamies (black ones on order, hopefully the mediums will fit, if not, someone will buy them)... the soft flex mediums seem to give the best seal of all that came in the box...

wow, i'm happy....
