Yes the difference is the included black Shure foams. Some later production E500s (like what I had) came with those. If you can find both models at the same price, I'd suggest you go for the SE530 since the black foams are generally favored.

There is also a thread floating around on this site that says that Shure is redesigning the cable for the SE530. That may end up being the most important difference given all of the problems reported with the current cable.

is redesigning, as in this will be a future production change, or are you saying that current ones have an upgraded cable? if there is a redesign coming then buy either the 500 or 530 and if your cable craps out the warranty replacement will be superior.

Get the E500. Cheaper, is IDENTICAL to the SE530, and, if the cable craps out (probably wont), you get a new SE530 from the warranty.

edit: There are like 30 E500s on eBay right now going for $280 shipped. They are all covered by Shure's 2 year warranty.

Ask Todd the Vinyl Junkie if he can match the price.

I got the new black olive foamies included with my E500 from Todd because they were manufactured recently.

They redesigned the cables "many months ago" according to Sugarfried. I don't know if that means that newer E500s have the redesigned cable though. I had assumed they do, but could be wrong.

I bought my E500s from that seller about four weeks ago. They are brand new phones and are covered by Shure's warranty.

Asking someone a question does not 'force' them to do anything.

Don't wait too long. As stock for the E500 goes to zero, the SE530 price will approach the Triple fi price.
