Hello, I've had my E4c's for about 3 years now. This is actually my second pair, the first pair was replaced by Shure under warranty because the right earphone sounded a lot quieter than the left one.

Since I wear my earphones often, there have been a few "accidents" with them. At least on two occasions there have been very hard tugs on them, so hard that they almost fell out of my ears (once I stepped on the cord and tried to stand up, and once the cord got stuck in a moving tourniquet).

At this point, I have a feeling that the sound quality of my Shures has decreased. It feels like they've started to seriously lack bass (more than they may have when they were new). Mids seem to be alright, highs kinda get on my nerves, feels like they're too loud. I listen to them with shortened triple flange tips.

I may either be going insane, my hearing may be decreasing, or my headphones really did worsen. I used to get a really nice feeling when I was listening to them, but now I don't get that anymore.

A couple days ago I've tried my friends Westone 3 with triple flange tips, and they completely blew my mind. I've never heard anything that sounded that good except for a live orchestra. My Shure's sound like the stock headphones that come with an iPod compared to the Westones.

Has anyone had the same issue? Is it possible that I broke my earphones, or is this just all in my head?

Thanks!

Hi,

I have that happen to me with my ER4s. I just found that I could not wear them for long anymore after awhile. It may be that my ears are getting fatigue and the magic just wore off.

I however bought a pair of SE530s about over a week ago and I really like them a lot. Though they can't beat the Etys in terms of clarity, I'm starting to indulge in good bass and sweet and smooth mids.

Give the SE530s a try as you already had with the W3s. I tried both but preferred and thought the SE530 sounded smoother. But then again I was never a fan of the Westones sound Sig.

Try to replace the filters on the E4C, it did make a huge difference o mines when I have the exact same problem as you have. One channel is louder than the other.

I bought W3 to replace my E4c and it did sounds like night and day.

You mean the nozzles? My nozzles are clean (I've disassembled them yesterday), but I'll try it.
