For me a major reason to keep the E500's. I never feel I want to change the bass response of the E500's with EQ (either more OR less). I always felt it was only a few tracks that worked well bass-wise with the E4's.

I'll give it a shot:

With the E4C I had a few tracks with had a sudden blast of bass. It was on these songs where I really enjoyed the E4C.
With the E500 I enjoy the bass on every track, there is plenty of it, without getting muddy or overpowering.

There are many people on the boards who have gone from the E4 to the E500. I have yet to hear a disappointed response.

As a matter of fact, I can recount numerous instances of where people were simply amazed and had endless ear orgasms.

One of my personal friends went through the same thing (E4 to E500, and audio orgasm) just a few weeks ago.

What amp would you guys suggest for the e500s? I don't want to spend more then $100-200. This is for use with my ipod. There are a lot of suggestions throughout the forums but a lot are for more of the "High end" products.

And do some amps work better with certain type of music?

Have you listened to the E500s yet without amp? If not, give it a little time first. The Xin SuperMicro IV is within your budget at 180 USD last time I checked. RSA Tomahawk is the other amp but it's 330 USD.

The Shures are regarded as a warm sounding IEM. If your penchant if for a clean sound then you should probably stay away from a warm amp too. I believe I read on here that the Hornet is meant to be warm, but I certainly don't hear it myself.
