Shure e3c or Sennheiser HD555? Would be driven by Karma only.

I can get either of them for roughly 115 shipped, and was wondering which of the two has the best sound overall. I am quite a basshead, so that is important, but other than that the music I listen to varies from death metal bands like Opeth and Killswitch Engage to Gustav Holst's masterpiece, "The Planets." Thanks in advance.

I have not heard the HD555 but if you are a bass head you should stay away from the e3c. The e3c is light on bass. What is there is good but to me it is not enough. I actually think the e2c would be a better choice for you because it has a lot more bass than the e3c. But the e2c lacks in other areas when compared to the e3c.

If you want...

Isolation, portability, no leakage = E3c

Better SQ in almost all respects other than detail = HD555
